TideWhisperTideWhisper is a message-in-a-bottle app for people aged 18 and over. Send a message into a shared pool and see who finds it. Whoever picks it up can reply once, and the conversation continues if you answer. How it works walks through each step.
Getting started
Choose your language and start exploring. TideWhisper creates an account linked to your device, so there is no separate account password to remember.
Your account stays with your device. Our Support page explains what happens when you reinstall the app, replace your phone or delete your account.
Privacy with clear boundaries
Your first message enters the discovery pool and is not end-to-end encrypted. From the first reply onward, text, photos and voice notes in the conversation use end-to-end encryption. Our server relays encrypted conversation content without the private keys needed to decrypt it.
Once both participants have read a message, its encrypted copy is removed from active servers. This does not remove copies already on their devices. Existing backups expire under our retention schedule; the service is not a permanent message archive.
When you select Translate, the app first attempts on-device translation. If that is unavailable or unsuccessful, the text submitted for translation is sent in readable form through our server to our translation provider.
Messaging without a real name, email address or phone number does not mean that no information is collected. We process information needed to provide the service, understand usage and address abuse. Profiles and reports are not protected by conversation encryption. The Privacy Policy explains the details, including what account deletion retains.
Respect is part of the experience
Bottles and nicknames are screened for inappropriate content before they are shared. You decide whether to continue a conversation. You can block someone you do not want to hear from and report conduct that breaks the Community Rules, which also explain how restrictions work.
Other users can see what you choose to share and may save or pass it on. Please respect their boundaries and take care with personal information.
